I have big news that's been a long time coming.
I know there has been a lack of postings around here lately, and I can finally tell you why: I resigned today (actually, yesterday at this point) because I am moving to San Francisco for my new job as a UI Designer for GOOGLE!!!!!!
Let that soak in for a second, because I can't believe I just typed it, so you probably can't believe you just read it.
To those of you who are ecstatic for me, thank you. Thank you for making this such a special day, for allowing me to contemplate how big this really is. You are the people that made this such a hard decision for me to make. I will miss you terribly.
I have a whole lot to do before I leave. There is much sorting and selling and packing and househunting to be done. But most importantly, there is partying to be done ... because I'm going to Google, baby!
So let the parties commence!

I posted something yesterday, I thought. I need a 'Google Desktop' for my brain, so I can recall previous thoughts!
Congratulations! I look forward to what you come up with in the way of personal projects (Google employees are allowed some % of their work time to devote to personal projects; that's how orkut and other beta features were born.)
Now, about my PageRank... ;-)

I'm glad I finally have someone through whom I can live a vicarious Google life! :)
I remember when you started the interview process, and it just seemed like such an alien thing. Like, you can, like, interview with Google? And then step after step went by. So awesome that all of that actually turned into an offer.
Literally a dream come true.

i remember the last time i drove my car out from the bowels of that building, and it was a glorious day.* i saw a new future ahead, new challenges, a new phase in life, a new set of blog posts. enjoy this new phase, ashley, keep us posted on how it goes.
not that there's anything wrong with working for that company in that building, 'cause, you know, i still have friends there...
