election 2006 and stuff: boo-yah!
stuff that definitely doesn't bug me:
Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld is stepping down.
--Rumsfeld has been criticized for his role in the war in Iraq. (Yeah - because he's doing it all on his own...)
Democrats win the House
--Democrats picked up at least 28 seats; they needed 15 to capture a majority in the House.
First female speaker of the House?
--Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-California, is now poised to become the first female speaker of the House. She viewed the Democrat's success as a rebuke to President Bush for the war on Iraq.
Majority of states have Democratic governor
--Six governorships switched from Republican to Democratic in Tuesday's election, giving Democrats control of a majority of top state posts for the first time in 12 years.
stuff that has me on the edge of my seat:
Senate is still too close to call:
--Democrats have 50, but Republicans have 49, with 1 state still undecided. Democrats need 51 to take majority. If it falls 50-50, the Vice President of the United States would break the tie in favor of the Republicans.
stuff that f-ing bugs me:
Weightlifter-turned-actor-turned-politician Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger won re-election in California. WTF-ingF??
