the photog, home alone

JR is visiting family this weekend, so I'm on my own. In my head, it was going to be non-stop "all about me", but last night i ate when i got home and then went straight to bed, since I'd worked until 3am. So last night was a goner. So far today I've made lists, gone and had my favorite breakfast at Kookez (the blueberry and strawberry skillet cake), and then come home to try and organize a good bag to go out for a photowalk with. And all of my alternatives are woefully inadequate. So I've decided I want this, from Crumpler:

I need it to house all of this:
And that doesn't even include the new lens, diffuser, mini-tripod and lens hood I want to buy. And it sure doesn't include our full-size tripod.

Anyway, I'm off for a photowalk with my awkward setup, which is what fits in my tiny camerabag in that, and that and everything else in my work backpack. Ugh. I won't be quick on the draw today. But here's to the nice weather outside allowing me to go take some photos!!! Yay!!!

They're not sexy, but have you looked at any of the Lowe Pro camera bags? We have various over the shoulder bags of theirs, as well as two backpacks (for hiking, mostly). We love the AW (All Weather) ones that have built-in GoreTex covers for those unexpected rainshowers/high humidity.

I have the 4 million dollar home. Fits my Olympus Evolt 510 and 1 lens. Oh, and a battery. I love it, but am thinking about the 5 million dollar home. They are smaller than they look at crumplerbags.com.

I also have a crumpler for my Macbook. It's the one that's a simple messenger bag. Very slim. A couple weeks ago, I put a 20oz diet coke in one pocket and didn't zip it. 30 minutes later, I noticed a diet coke puddle under my bag. Oops! Didn't close the cap all the way. The pocket had 8 inches of liquid in it. The other pocket, with my computer, was dry.

Threw the whole thing in the washer to get it clean and it was good as new.

DEFINITELY recommend the crumpler bags!

Yes, that LW! I'm a lurker and rarely emerge from the cracks. I don't have a facebook account, I'll have to get with it. All the cool kids have one...

Definitely let me know if you're going to be in Austin.
